If you’re booking with an experienced newborn photographer in Temecula or Lake Elsinore, you might notice that my sessions are scheduled for about 1.5 hours.
That isn’t because we’re constantly shooting for 90 minutes.
It’s because newborn sessions are baby-led.
Your baby sets the pace.
They may need:
A feeding break
A diaper change
Extra cuddles
A few minutes to settle
And that’s completely normal.
In fact, some of the most meaningful images happen during those in-between moments — you rocking them by the window, dad adjusting the swaddle, siblings peeking in close.
As a nurse and newborn photographer serving Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, and Menifee, I never rush babies into poses they aren’t comfortable in. Safety and calm always come first.
We move slowly. We read their cues. We pause when needed.
A 1.5-hour window allows:
Gently posed wrapped portraits
Relaxed family images
Lifestyle storytelling moments
Time for everyone to breathe
Newborn sessions aren’t meant to feel stressful or performance-based.
They’re meant to feel like a quiet morning at home — just beautifully documented.
And when you look back at those images years from now, you won’t remember how long it took.
