I didn’t always understand how powerful a photograph could be—at least, not the way I do now.

When my dad passed away in 2024, my world shifted. In the fog of grief, I found myself desperately searching for recent photos—something that showed our connection, the way we laughed together, the bond only a father and daughter share. What I found instead were grainy selfies and blurry snapshots. The last truly beautiful photo of us was from 2018.

The grief of losing him was heavy. But the heartbreak of realizing I didn’t have an image that told our story? That was devastating.

Grief, Motherhood, and Picking Up the Camera Again

Just two months later, I welcomed my daughter Charlotte into the world—and stepped into another season I wasn’t prepared for: postpartum depression. Those early days were hard and isolating, a blur of sleepless nights, endless feedings, and self-doubt.

But slowly, I picked up my camera again.

What started as a way to feel grounded turned into something healing. Photographing Charlotte—her soft little features, the way she melted into my husband’s arms, the quiet beauty of those fleeting moments—reminded me why I had fallen in love with photography in the first place.
